Day 1 - Arrive Madrid (2 nights)
On arrival at Madrid Airport you are transferred to your hotel. Then time to explore before you meet your Tour Planner for a Welcome Drink.

Day 2 - Madrid sightseeing & at leisure
A morning panoramic sightseeing tour with a local guide encompasses all you need to know about the Spanish capital. Later, you may wish to go to Toledo or maybe take a little siesta! This evening, why not try out some of the late night bars around the Plaza Mayor? (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 3 - Madrid – Barcelona (2 nights)
As we drive along the Jalon gorges we see the old Arab irrigation systems still in use today on our approach to Barcelona. Don't miss out on a fiery Flamenco show tonight. We'll have late-night transportation to get you back to your hotel. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 4 - Barcelona sightseeing & at leisure
From Gaudi's incredible 'Sagrada Familia' to the Paseo de Gracia with its chic boutiques this is a city of surprises. We'll explore its many facets with our local guide. Enjoy Catalan specialties in a local restaurant tonight and then the city is yours. (Buffet Breakfast, Highlight Dinner)

Day 5 - Barcelona - Cannes - Nice (2 nights)
Into France, and through the Camargue with its white horses and black bulls. Then along the coast to Cannes' Croisette with its Film Festival Centre and 'palace-hotels' before dinner tonight in a Nicois restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast, Highlight Dinner)

Day 6 - Nice at leisure
This is where the French come to jog along the Promenade, sizzle in the sun or just show off their latest boutique purchases. Enjoy an included excursion to Monaco and Monte Carlo. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 7 - Nice - Pisa - Florence (2 nights)
Mid-morning departure takes us into Italy, where we continue along the coast past Genoa and the quarries of Carrara to Pisa famous for its Leaning Tower. We'll have time to visit the Square of Miracles before continuing to Florence. This evening, we'll enjoy a meal with wine in one of the city's most popular pizzerias! (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

Day 8 - Florence sightseeing & at leisure
Trafalgar's local expert will bring the city to life on an included walking tour. We'll also have time for shopping, there are bargains to be had in fine quality leather goods and 18 carat gold jewellery. Tonight, why not try out some of the local clubs? We'll have transportation on hand to take you back to your hotel. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 9 - Florence - Orvieto - Rome (2 nights)
This morning we stop in the medieval walled town of Orvieto, famous for its glorious wines, its richly decorated Cathedral and its pretty pottery shops. Later we arrive in Rome where this evening you may like to do 'as the Romans do' and linger in the fountain-filled squares and pavement cafés! (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 10 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure
Our local guide takes us on a tour seeing the Forum, the Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. Then you may wish to explore further or maybe chill out in the Piazza Navona. (Buffet Breakfast )

Day 11 - Rome - home

Time for farewells or perhaps extend your stay with your new friends. (Buffet Breakfast)

Airport Transfers
Transfers on arrival at Madrid Airport will operate at 09.30, 12.30 and 15.00. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport at 07.00 and 09.30.

   
    * Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
    * Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.

I29 - FLORENCE. Medici entertainment and Sumptuous Banquet in a Renaissance Palace
Experience a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! In a sumptuous Renaissance Palace, we will be served a delicious banquet of modern Tuscan cuisine - the main course brought to us by waiters in Renaissance dress. We will be entertained with Renaissance music, dancing and songs by a troop of singers and dancers in the flowing robes of the Medici era. Wine and coffee are included with the meal and show.

F20 - FRENCH RIVIERA. The Three Corniches, Lunch or Dinner
We take a scenic excursion along the Riviera of the Three Corniche Roads, enjoying spectacular views along perhaps the most beautiful coast in Europe. We reach the ‘Grand Corniche’ - the highway which follows the ancient Aurelian Way. There, the Emperor Augustus erected a Roman ‘Trophy’ - a dazzling white sacrificial temple to mark the border between Rome and Gaul (modern-day France). We continue to our restaurant where we will enjoy a typical meal of specialities from the French Riviera. (Drinks included).

ESP6a - MADRID. El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen
This guided tour takes us first to the royal city of El Escorial. This great monastery-palace was built in the foothills of the Guadarrama mountains by Philip II, in thanksgiving for his victory over the French at the battle of St. Quentin in 1557. After a break for lunch, we continue to visit the memorial built by Franco to those who fell in the Civil War. High in the mountains, with splendid views, this amazing memorial was cut into the rock face to create the largest basilica ever built. It is surmounted by a cross some 410 feet high.

Visit the ancient capital of Spain, situated above the River Tagus. It contains the nation’s principal Cathedral as well as some of El Greco’s famous views. I14 - ROME. Ancient and Christian Rome
Explore Rome’s past. Visit the Catacombs where the early Christians assembled to escape persecution and which were used as underground cemeteries. On some tours a visit to the Chuch of St. Peter in Chains to see Michelangelo’s statue of Moses, will be visited instead of the Pantheon. I40 - ROME. Introduction to Rome by Night
Cameras at the ready for the many magnificent sights awaiting us as we ‘do as the Romans do’ and start the evening with a ‘passegiata’ (evening stroll) along the Via Condotti to the world-famous Spanish Steps in Rome’s most fashionable shopping area. The ‘Campidoglio’, Piazza Venezia and so much more are included on this evening visit before we linger in Piazza Navona with its many pavement cafés and trattorias to admire the seventeenth century fountains and architecture. NB On certain departures, the Spanish Steps will be substituted by the Piazza Rotonda, dominated by the mighty Pantheon.
